2. Hosting and Server Log Files

This website uses the open-source publishing platform Ghost and is self-hosted.

When you visit this website, the server may automatically process certain technical information in order to deliver the website and ensure its secure and reliable operation.

This information may include:

  • your IP address;
  • the date and time of your request;
  • the page or resource requested;
  • the referring website, where transmitted by your browser;
  • your browser type and version;
  • your operating system;
  • the amount of data transferred; and
  • technical information such as HTTP status codes.

This data is processed for the purposes of providing the website, maintaining the security and stability of the server, identifying technical problems and protecting the website against misuse or attacks.

The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). My legitimate interest is the secure, reliable and technically functional operation of this website.

Where the hosting provider processes personal data on my behalf, it acts as a data processor.

3. Ghost

This website is built using Ghost, an open-source publishing platform.

Ghost is installed within my own hosting environment. This website is not hosted through Ghost(Pro).

Ghost Foundation therefore does not receive personal data merely because you visit this website.

I do not use Ghost's website analytics on this publication.

This website does not use web analytics, advertising trackers or behavioural profiling.

In particular, I do not use Google Analytics or comparable third-party analytics services.

5. Newsletter and Member Accounts

This website does not currently provide a newsletter or public member registration.

Visitors cannot create member accounts, and I do not use the website to collect email addresses for marketing purposes.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

This website does not use cookies or similar technologies for analytics, advertising or behavioural tracking.

No non-essential cookies are intentionally placed on your device when you visit the publicly accessible pages of this website.

Technically necessary storage may be used where required for the secure or functional operation of the website or its administration.

Where access to or storage of information on your device is strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by you, consent is not required under the applicable German rules governing such technologies.

This website may contain links to external websites.

If you choose to follow such a link, you leave this website. The processing of personal data on the destination website is governed by that website's own privacy policy and is outside my control.

I do not currently embed third-party services such as social-media feeds, YouTube or Vimeo videos, Google Maps or comparable external content that automatically connects to those providers when you open a page.

8. Data Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, or for as long as legal obligations require its retention.

The retention period for server log data is stated in Section 2 above.

9. Your Rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you may have the right to:

  • obtain information about personal data processed about you;
  • request the correction of inaccurate personal data;
  • request the deletion of your personal data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • receive personal data you have provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, where the legal requirements for data portability are met;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests; and
  • withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact me using the email address given above.

10. Right to Lodge a Complaint

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

The supervisory authority responsible for me is generally:
